How we measure
We collect the free numbers that public receive-SMS sites list, where those sites allow it, and check each number's inbox every few minutes. A number counts as working when it received an SMS in the last 24 hours. We only count messages we saw ourselves.
Codes are detected by their digits, and apps by the sender name and message text (for example “Telegram code”). When the same code shows up on several numbers, only the first copy counts, because a code is only ever sent to one phone. Sources that showed fake or generated messages were removed along with their data.
Tracking started on 2026-11-07. Figures that need more history, such as how long numbers keep working, appear once there is enough data.
